Sensor integration / sensor cleaning “sensor nursing”-
We are working on the clear view of tomorrow…!
The development maturity of driver assistance systems – from blind-spot detection and lane-keeping assistance to fully autonomous vehicles – is constantly increasing and represents a fundamental focus of the automotive industry.
A significant proportion of these assistance systems are equipped with sensors such as LiDAR, radar, camera, ultrasound, etc.
It is our target to find the optimum positioning and thus the ideal solution for the function.
Visibility is extremely important to ensure the safety of the function.
One of our current research and development topics is sensor cleaning for optical sensors such as cameras and LiDAR in cars.
The following main points must be considered when designing the system:
- Temperature
- Material
- Assembly
- Manufacturability
- Tightness
- Design harmony
For the design of the installation space (e.g. pumps, valves, tubing), the focus is on optimally integrating these into the vehicle and also considering the parts in terms of weight and energy consumption.
We also examine the cleaning alternatives, taking into account the types of dirt that can occur.
Furthermore, air flow calculations are carried out in order to simulate and optimize the design of the cleaning system while driving.
Final functional safeguarding/control of the cleaning system in the vehicle, also taking into account functional safety (FUSI, FMEA) and cyber security requirements.
